Michael’s mom Debbie and Fred Phelps divorced when Michael was 9 years old.

Fred Phelps is a retired Maryland State Trooper and live just outside of Baltimore in the Suburbs.

It is reported that Fred and son Michael haven’t talked in years and he has yet to have contacted him during these Olympic games.

According to the Baltimore Sun, he watched the Olympics from his home, saying he was “on pins and needles” every time Michael dove into the pool.

 

I’m not mad at the dude.  I don’t know the whole story and I’m sure it’s a tough situation all around.

All I have to say is divorce is AWEFUL for everyone involved!
